Owl Prowl Presentation and Hike
with Jane Whitney
Join a Ridges Naturalist at The Ridges Nature Center for a presentation to learn about owl species that call Door County home. Then, head out on the trail to hear them calling to one another!
This program meets at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center, then drives to a location off site for the hike portion of the program. Participants must have vehicle to drive to the hike location.
Please Note: Portions of the Owl Prowl may be on uneven, slippery trail surfaces, including snow and ice. Please wear appropriate footwear.
Eastern Screech-Owl Nest Box Workshop
with Sam Hoffman
Head over to The Ridges Workshop to build eastern screech-owl nest boxes to take home and hang in your backyard. A Ridges staff member will provide you with all the materials you need to assemble your nest box.
Each individual registration includes materials for one box. If more than one person will be building a singular box, please note that in the registration questions.
Please note: The nest box building portion of the workshop will include hammering and the use of power tools in an indoor space.

Keynote Presentation: Cranes - A True Wetland Wonder! Virtual
Join us for our annual Crane Symposium Keynote Presentation! In this presentation, representatives of the International Crane Foundation will introduce the two crane species found here in Wisconsin: the sandhill crane and the endangered whooping crane. They will discuss their life history, the threats they face, the habitats they depend on, and how you can help protect these beloved birds.

Stewardship Workshop: Small Actions Add Up

Learn to become your own land steward through our kickoff Stewardship Workshop at The Ridges during Earth Week! Join Land Manager Sam Hoffman in the Sanctuary, who will lead discussions on local ecological issues and demonstrate small steps that landowners can take to better manage and protect the health of their land. No matter your knowledge or skill level, anyone can take actions that collectively add up to a big environmental impact. Participants will receive take home materials to help them practice stewardship on their properties. Suitable for ages 18 & up.
