Tiny Trekkers | Fridays | March | March Madness

Ages: 1 - 4

Join us for Tiny Trekkers! This program is for caregivers and children who are walking through 3 years old. Tiny Trekkers is designed to create a foundation of love and respect for the natural world. Active play in nature between caregivers and children provides lasting impressions. Join a Ridges Sanctuary educator in gentle hiking, songs, and endless possibilities for exploration and experimentation.

Please note: There will not be class the week of March 16-20 due to Spring Break.

Winter Sanctuary Guided Hikes | Friday, March 6 | 1:30 pm

Join a naturalist for an exploration of The Ridges Sanctuary in the winter. We’ll head out on the trails to learn about the history of The Ridges, explore some winter adaptations, search for animal tracks, and more! If conditions allow, we will utilize snowshoes for our hike. You can rent snowshoes from the Nature Store for $5 per pair. Suitable for all ages.   

Owl Prowl Presentation and Hike

Join a Ridges Naturalist at The Ridges Nature Center for a presentation to learn about owl species that call Door County home. Then, head out on the trail to hear them calling to one another!  

This program meets at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center, then drives to a location off site for the hike portion of the program. Participants must have vehicle to drive to the hike location. 

Please Note: Portions of the Owl Prowl may be on uneven, slippery trail surfaces, including snow and ice. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Eastern Screech-Owl Nest Box Workshop

Head over to The Ridges Workshop to build eastern screech-owl nest boxes to take home and hang in your backyard. A Ridges staff member will provide you with all the materials you need to assemble your nest box.  

Each individual registration includes materials for one box. If more than one person will be building a singular box, please note that in the registration questions.

Please note: The nest box building portion of the workshop will include hammering and the use of power tools in an indoor space.

Snapshot Wisconsin - Let's Discover Wildlife Together! Virtual

Snapshot Wisconsin is a partnership to monitor wildlife year-round using a statewide network of volunteer-managed trail cameras. Join Kyra Shaw for a virtual talk on the Snapshot Wisconsin project, including how to get involved, how the data is used to support and inform wildlife management decisions, and the recently launched phenology project! Suitable for all ages.
